Boringdon Golf Club, Plymouth

Rud Sawers Architects were invited by Boringdon Golf Course, located on the outskirts of Plymouth, to develop  the Golf Course. RSA were required  to meet the following objectives: To Create a Championship Golf Course, The golf course is to be extended and transformed into a championship tournament golf course. The facilities would be used to host premiership tour competitions and attract the worlds best players. To create a Luxury 5 Star Hotel Complex. The project would include a new 80-120 bedroom luxury hotel adjacent to the existing Golf Club house. 

To create a mixture of housing. The project would contain approximately 60 large low energy, high spec residences. The housing may be used to subsidise the hotel. The residential mix includes - 4-6 bedroom houses - holiday homes - lodges, working units. To create a ‘destination’ The site is to be expanded to contain a number of leisure functions such as mountain bike trails, horse riding and  adventure trails.

The inspiration behind the hotel is as a ‘Hotel on the Hill’ concept. The site is elevated and a prominent hotel would offer expansive views towards Plymouth and beyond and would act as a dramatic beacon on the Skyline.
