RSA were selected to enter proposals for a 23 Unit ‘eco’ Holiday Park development competition at St. Minver in North Cornwall.
Our design responds to the immediate cornish vernacular and provides comfortable, spacious and flexible accommodation to meet the needs of the holidaymaker.
The units are organised around a central heart or ‘village green’ concept. By using sustainably driven and affordable materials and designing an efficient building form, the constructional budget is used creatively to deliver a really wonderful holiday destination.
Views to the south are maximised to create an efficient passive energy generation. This contrasts to the more intimate spaces and sensible use of fire places to help create atmosphere and heat.
Use of renewable materials such as hemp, cob, recycled materials, timber are used with more financially cost effective materials to create a contextually sensitive and environmentally driven development.
