Wrington Primary School, Bristol

The proposals include the formation of a new landscaped entrance area which leads up a gentle slope to a paved courtyard. This area contains a covered glazed canopy into a new entrance reception into the school.

The administration office is located to provide a new security and entrance area for the school with views to the courtyard and into the newly formed security lobby through an access hatch. The canopy continues inside the building into a clearly defined circulation spine through the centre of the building. This route connects all of the functions of the school.

A number of existing walls will be demolished to form a new reception space next to the retained kiln. This area will serve to provide information and will work as a social heart of the school with direct access from the administration office, head teachers office and staff room.

A new kitchen will provide hot meals and food technology. Existing accommodation including the library, reception and year 1 class will be relocated to provide a more workable arrangement. The electrical and security systems will be reviewed and modernised as part of these proposals.
